Specialist teachers in Intermediate and Secondary English, Maths and Science
Year 7 to 9
Intermediate (Year 7 and 8) and Year 9 lessons contain a focus on either Maths or Literacy, or a mix of both. This mix is discussed with you during the initial assessment and can be adjusted as needed. We can also assist with science and social studies if needed. For our intermediate students we are always mindful of what they will need for Year 9; we plan our teaching to support a smooth start at High School.

Year 10 to 13
Our specialist teachers provide English, Maths (Calculus, Physics and Statistics) and Science (Chemistry and Biology) tuition.
How it works:
At this level each lesson focuses on school assignments and areas of concern. We take a collaborative approach where our students tell us the learning areas they need help with. We then tailor our teaching to fill knowledge gaps and help them lift their school assessment results.
What progress to expect:
Students who are receiving ‘Not Achieved’ NCEA assessments generally move on to ‘Achieved’, and those who have typically reached ‘Achieved’ now attain ‘Merit’ or ‘Excellence.’ These results are typical when time is invested in 3-4 or more terms of weekly study with ACE.
If your teen is considering joining us, our advice is to do it sooner rather than later. Places with us book up quickly from Term 2, and we’ve observed that steadily preparing all year leads to good grade improvements and a happier, more relaxed student at exam time.
Study leave lessons:
Extra exam preparation lessons are available over the end-of-year study leave period.
